Brain Sneezing - from kalokagathia to hypochondria and back
Topic 2013 : BRAINWASHING
Competition terms :
Each author can send maximum 5 original works.
The competition is open to everybody and is not restricted in terms of artistic design methods.
The format of works should not exceed the A4 dimension.
The competition is non-anonymous.
The works can be sent either online, by filling the electronic application form, or via regular mail, with each work signed on the reverse with the author´s name and their address.
The rewarded works will become the property of the organiser.
Deadline : 30th September 2013
The exhibition of the works and the announcement of the results will take place in October 2013 in Prešov.
The most successful authors will be awarded by the international jury as follows:
1st prize 500.00 EUR
2nd prize 300.00 EUR
3rd prize 100.00 EUR
The competition Jury reserves the right to grant other special prizes or not to grant some of the prizes.

DETAILS OF THE CONTEST
Rules:
1. THEME: FARMER’S AGONY
2. MAXIMUM NUMBER OF ENTRIES:
One (Any technique: Black & white; Colour; Digital)
3. ABOUT THE CARTOON:
A) Only one unpublished Cartoon is to be sent as e-mail attachment. (Don't send previously awarded cartoon)
B) The Entry Form (only in MSWord- doc format) must accompany the cartoon as attached mail (See Entry form below)
C) Size: 21 x 30 cm (A-4)
D) Cartoon should be in JPG format (strictly 100dpi) (Maximum 1MB).
E) The committee may ask the cartoonist to provide the signed original/sketch (Incase of digital art works) after their selection for exhibition/diploma.

6. THE PRIZES:
There will be 07 prizes (First, Second, Third, Special mention-2 and Honourable mention-2). All the prize winners will be awarded with a Diploma Certificate and a CD album of selected cartoons.
7. RESULT AND EXHIBITION:
A) Result of the contest is likely to be declared in the last week of June 2013 and selected cartoons will be exhibited in the

B) The Diploma certificates and CD albums for all the winners will be sent by post after the function.
C) The exhibitions will be organized from June onwards in various places.
8. RIGHTS OF THE ORGANIZER:
A) Once sent, the works belong to the organizing committee. It can be published, distributed or used for promotional purpose in future.
B) Cartoons should be downloadable and clear. Committee would not be responsible in situations like net-failure, undownloadable cartoon etc.
It is therefore advised to keep the file small.
C) Plagiarism, if detected, the entry will be summarily rejected or even the diploma would be withdrawn, if awarded.
D) In case of a dispute, decision of the Committee would be final. The committee reserves all rights to cancel or modify any of the rules/conditions.
Participants are considered to have accepted all the conditions and are aware that their submissions may be reprinted and used without future monetary compensation.

We declare new International competition of visual humour "Fun in Vassylivka style”. Held competition
for development and support of cartoon, humour and satire in the genre of small graphic arts, strengthening
of creative and professional international contacts, popularizations of local and other brands too.
Also to the exposure and support of young cartoonists.

Conditions and rules
1. The competition is open, in contest can take part both professional artists and amateurs.
2. On a competition is accepted only author original works.
3. Works, sent an e-mail, are examined ( .jpg, 300 dpi ).
4. Technique of execution - any.
5. The amount of works is unreserved, minimum 2 works from every theme.
6. The works sent on a competition remain in collection of organizational committee of competition.
7. The inquiry of participant must be filled in a letter of seal by English, Russian or Ukrainian.
( the form of participant is added ).
8. The works sent on a competition can be exhibited in show-rooms of Vassylivka, other museums, galleries,
in decision of organizers and also can be placed on the site of museum.
9. Organizators must write name, surname author, his contry on all works.
10. Copyrights on image, names and texts of works, belong to the author, they do not change.
An author carries responsibility for the works in obedience to the current legislation of
11. Pictures which were the before recipients of an award on other competitions, sending is possible, but with
an obligatory mark, where and when they were the recipients of an award. The fact of participating means
in a competition, that participant accept all terms of competition.
Special conditions
1. On opening of exhibition and ceremony of rewarding of winners can arrive all persons interested,
before that warning the organizers of competition. For passage and dwelling they bear expenses.
2. As a result of competition "Fun in Vassylivka style" there will be given out catalogue. All authors,
whose works, will enter in a catalogue after the conclusions of judge, will get the free catalogue
of competition by mail.
3. Organizers and sponsors of competition can enter a few special prizes after receipt all works on a competition.

Raúl Fernando Zuleta : ORGULLO COLOMBIANO
Raúl Fernando Zuleta se ha convertido en uno de los mejores exponentes de Humor Gráfico del Planeta Tierra y sus alrededores al haber alcanzado el tercer lugar en la categoria HUMOR , en uno de los Certámenes mas importantes como lo es el World Press Cartoon International que año tras año reune las obras de los mas importantes Caricaturistas y Humoristas Gráficos del mundo . Zuleta ha sido el segundo Colombiano en obtener este Galardón , después del maestro Turcios quien ya ha sido premiado en dos ocasiones .
Antonio Antunes su Director , ha logrado trascender fronteras llevando a cabo la organización de un magnífico evento que es conocido en todos los rincones de cada Continente , evento que fué creado en el año 2005 en la ciudad de Sintra -Portugal.
A pesar de la crisis Europea, Antonio ha logrado mantener el evento en pie , gracias al apoyo de varias entidades que lo respaldan las cuales creen en el Arte y apoyan nuestra labor que llevamos a cabo diariamente en los diferentes medos impresos que circulan en el mundo.
Cada año , el Jurado elige las mejores obras presentadas en el Concurso y edita un maravilloso Catálogo, el cuál es obsequiado a cada uno de los artistas seleccionados . Este Catálogo de excelente Calidad , reune todas las mejores obras publicadas en los medios impresos a lo largo del año , de una calidad visual sorprendente !!!! Mil gracias a Antonio Antunes por esta maravillosa labor y que sigan los éxitos...
Con un jurado de alta magnitud como son : Francisco Puñal - España, Ricardo Antunes - Brasil, António Antunes -Portugal, Riber Hansson -Suécia e Marielena Nardi -Itália., eligieron a artistas de Argentina , Brasil , Colombia, España, Francia, Grecia , Iran y Serbia quienes fueron Galardonados en la Ceremonia de Premiación llevada a cabo en el Centro Cultural Olga Cadaval , el pasado 12 de abril en la Ciudad de Sintra - Portugal
La exposición estará abierta al público del 13 de abril al 30 de junio en el Centro Cultural Olga Cadaval
Francisco Punal, además de haber sido jurado de la edición 2012, dia tras dia , hace que nosotros los artistas tengamos un espacio en el prestigioso Diario Siglo XXI de USA, en el cual publica notas relacionadas con el Arte, la Caricatura y el Humos Gráfico Internacional , y además ha realizado unas maravillosas notas con entrevistas a los Ganadores del WPC 2012 .. Con su dibujo “Mujer libre”, publicado en la revista peruana El mundo de Karry, el caricaturista colombiano Raúl Fernando Zuleta acaba de ganar el tercer premio en la categoría de dibujo humorístico en la novena edición del World Press Cartoon, que reconoce a nivel internacional las mejores caricaturas publicadas en medios impresos en el 2012, y que abrió hoy sus puertas en el Centro Cultural Olga Cadaval, en la ciudad portuguesa de Sintra, famosa por sus atractivos turísticos y culturales.
Con relación a este dibujo imaginativo y satírico, Zuleta expresa:
Mis caricaturas siempre buscan generar una reflexión en torno a un tema, de ahí que esa condición divertida, chistosa y graciosa de la caricatura, yo rápidamente deseo sobrepasarla para llevarla a algo más de fondo, es decir, a una reflexión que interroga al espectador. La mayoría de mis caricaturas parten de preguntas que me hago, que me hacen pensar e imaginarme ¿cómo sería tal situación?, ¿qué podría suceder?, ¿qué nuevo final puedo inventar?, y en este caso puntual, me pregunté cómo podría cambiar la historia de la mujer, cómo podría liberarse de ese peso histórico. Esta pregunta inmediatamente me llevó a la escena bíblica de Adán y Eva (que además los temas propios de la tradición cristiana son muy consecutivos en mi trabajo para contraponer situaciones de la sociedad contemporánea). Ubicado en esta escena tan crucial y que marcó la historia de la mujer, comencé a dibujar y dibujar posibles versiones, hasta que entre tantas líneas, hubo un Eureka!!, y ahí apareció.
¿Por qué es importante el humor y la sátira en la sociedad?
A veces las verdades resultan bastante incomodas decirlas o aceptarlas, o a veces son demasiado complejas que difícilmente la gente las puede comprender; pues bien, la caricatura logra decir la verdad con humor, de una manera clara y sencilla, eso hace que el mensaje llegue a todo el mundo. En mi caso personal, me interesa una caricatura que supere esa función de hacer reír simplemente y mi intención es que entre en un campo conceptual que haga pensar, donde a través de situaciones imprevistas, ponga de presente hechos culturales, sociales, políticos, tecnológicos, religiosos, etc., que caracterizan a la sociedad contemporánea. Y para acentuar esas situaciones tan propias de nuestro tiempo, la caricatura me ha permitido decir muchas cosas de una manera humorística, pero al mismo tiempo con una satírica e ironía fuerte que hace preguntarnos sobre el mundo en que vivimos; y cuando contrapongo el pasado con el presente, esa característica de la sociedad actual se hace más evidente y es ahí donde mis caricaturas generan un fuerte impacto e invitan a una reflexión.

Además ha sido seleccionando en más de 50 concursos y festivales de humor gráfico en muchos países. Sus caricaturas han sido publicadas en muchos catálogos a nivel mundial. Actualmente pública para
El mundo de Karry, Perú; el suplemento Catrasca, Argentina; y la Revista Fenamizah, Turquía. ARTISTA: ha ganado varios premios en Colombia y Argentina, ha participado en numerosas exposiciones de arte contemporáneo en Colombia y en el exterior. Además ha realizado algunas exposiciones individuales en diferentes galerías.

DOCENTE DE ARTE: cerca de 10 años como profesor en educación artística formal (Universidad de Antioquia en Colombia) y educación no formal en diferentes centros culturales.
